In 2020, the world went on lockdown. This included Jim’s dad, Bill, who was 87 years old and sequestered in his senior living apartment.
Dedicated to giving his dad a glimpse of the world outside his four walls, Jim was inspired to first pick up a camera just three years ago. Jim watched hundreds of YouTube videos to learn a variety of techniques from extreme close ups of flowers and insects to astrophotography of deep space nebulas and galaxies. Today, Jim’s portfolio has grown to several thousand stunning images of natures beauty.
Jim’s images have gained recognition by winning several awards including the following:
State Fair of Texas
2020 1st Place - Bluebonnets
2021 2nd Place - Skies
2022 3rd Place - Outside Texas
2022 Honorable Mention - Motion
Texoma Audubon Society
2023 1st Place - Songbirds
2023 3rd Place - Raptors
His work has also been published in the Dallas Morning News, PSST! Press Magazine, Hagerman National Wildlife Preserve newsletter and Origami Gallery’s artwork showcase book.
While photography is clearly a passionate hobby for Jim, his day job is president of the nation’s largest architectural firm solely focused on healthcare.
